Iranian workers Strike

(FNA)- The workers of Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane complex in the Southern city of Shoush in Khuzestan province ended strike and protest and returned to work after their salaries were paid and new managers were appointed to run the plant.


Representative of Iran’s labor minister on Haft Tappeh and Iran National Steel Industrial Group (INSIG), Karim Yavari, told FNA that Haft Tappeh workers have received two months of their overdue wages, adding that their other legal demands will also be pursued.

Haft Tappeh workers had been protesting for several days to demand for the return of the factory to the public sector and receive their overdue wages. The plant is a private sector entity.

Also, according to Yavari, workers at the Iran National Steel Industrial Group in the Southern city of Ahwaz who held a protest calling for four months’ unpaid salaries for 4,000 people received two months of their wages.

All workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group have received two months of their salaries, he underlined.
